The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, approved a property exchange agreement with Kansas Speedway late that year, swapping land to give Buc-ee’s its current site, and gave final site approval in November 2024. It then took roughly another year of planning before crews actually broke ground.
The overall development is valued at approximately $94.8 million. Once open, it’s expected to employ around 225 to 250 people full-time, with starting pay reported at $20 an hour — notably higher than the typical Buc-ee’s starting wage in most other states.
